The struggle of women to gain the right to vote will be the focus of two speakers at the Martin Public Library. Dr. Renee LaFleur from UT Martin will provide an overview on the history of American suffrage and its Tennessee connections. Genny Carter from the Hatchie River Regional Library will explore a digital women’s suffrage collection online with the Tennessee State Library and Archives. Participants can also tour the Smithsonian traveling exhibit, Voices and Votes, at the Martin Public Library, October 7-November 18.
