The UT Martin Research Series moves off-campus for a special event at 6:00pm on Tuesday, December 7 at the Martin Public Library. Dr. Danny Walker, DVM, will report on recent research in UTM’s veterinary science and veterinary technology programs. UT Martin is one of only 30 institutions in the country to offer four-year academic instruction in the discipline, with students completing on-site, hands-on internship experiences at regional veterinary hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. Ongoing research initiatives inform student learning and also influence the evolving work of veterinarians in caring for pets an companion animals. The presentation will include discussion of the top medical conditions of dogs and cat.
Dr. Walker is Associate Professor of Veterinary Health Technology in the UTM Department of Agriculture, Geosciences, and Natural Resources. A past president of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Walker was awarded the Elsevier Award for Teaching Excellence in 2017 from the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators,
The event is co-sponsored by the Martin Public Library, the Friends of the Martin Public Library, UT Martin’s Division of Academic Affairs, and the UT Martin Libraries. It is open to the public and will begin at 6:00pm at the public library’s downtown location at 410 South Lindell Street in Martin.
